Grandma Wood's Pie Crust

Ingredients 2 cups flour 1 tsp salt 2 tsp sugar 2⁄3 cup shortening ¼ cup cold water (approximately) Instructions Combine flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in shortening with pastry cutter, leaving some pea sized chunks of grease. Sprinkle water over mixture and stir with a fork until it forms a soft ball. Divide into 2 balls and refrigerate while you prepare filling (or at least a ½ hour).

Grandma Wood's Potato Salad

Ingredients 5-6 new potatoes, boiled until barely done 4-5 hard boiled eggs, diced ½ cucumber, chopped 1 small bunch green onions, chopped Instructions Combine ingredients and sprinkle with 2 Tbsp sugar, salt, and pepper. Let sit for 10 minutes while preparing dressing. Dressing: 1 cup Miracle Whip ½ cup mayonnaise 3 Tbsp canned milk Pour over potato mixture and toss. Best if served within one hour.

Grandma's Banana Drop Cookies

Ingredients 2 ¼ cup flour 1 cup sugar 2 tsp baking powder ½ Tbsp baking soda ¾ tsp salt 2⁄3 cup shortening 2 eggs 1 cup mashed ripe bananas 1 tsp vanilla 2 cups chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired 1 Tbsp sugar ¼ tsp cinnamon Instructions Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add eggs, bananas, and vanilla. Beat until well blended.

Ham Fried Rice

Ingredients 3 cups rice, cooked 5-6 slices bacon, optional ½ lb ham 1 clove garlic 3 stalks celery, diced 2 diced green onions other vegetables (peas and carrots, etc) 3 eggs 2 Tbsp oil 2 Tbsp soy sauce Instructions Make rice. Meanwhile, fry bacon. Crumble and set aside. Fry ham and garlic in bacon grease. Add celery and onions and saute for 2 minutes. Add any other desired vegetables and saute until tender.
