Soft Bread Bowls

Custom bowls for the soup of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 Cups flour
  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp yeast
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Place 2 Cups flour into the bottom of your stand mix-er. Add sugar and the salt. Stir it to combine.
  2. Pour milk and water into one measuring cup. Heat it in the microwave for 1 minute, or until bubbly and hot.
  3. Carefully put the butter into the hot liquid and let it melt a bit.
  4. Pour the buttery milk into your mixer. Turn the mixer on to low and let it mix for about 30 seconds. Add yeast and the remaining 2 Cups of flour.
  5. Mix dough for 5 minutes.
  6. Spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray and set the dough on it. Use a large knife to cut the dough into 6 equal parts. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Shape each piece into a ball.
  8. Whisk the egg in a small bowl and spread over the tops of each dough ball.
  9. Place the pan in a 170 degree oven and let the dough rise until doubled in size (about 15-25 minutes).
  10. Turn your oven up to 350 degrees (leave the pan in the oven while the temperature increases). Bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool for about 10 minutes.
