Caramels

Homemade caramels.

Ingredients

  • 2 C sugar
  • 1 C Karo syrup
  • ½ lb (2 cubes) margarine
  • 2 C evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • nuts (if desired)

Instructions

Bring sugar, Karo syrup, margarine, and 1 C evaporated milk to a boil. Cook on medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Take off heat and slowly add an additional 1 C evaporated milk. Cook to firm ball, stirring constantly. Add vanilla and nuts, if desired. Pour into buttered pan.
